Canon EF 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS USM

Well, I did it. I went ahead and got this lens. Web opinions for the lens ranged from "Who'd be crazy enough to buy such a slow lens at that kind of price!" to "This lens was targeted at an audience made entirely out of madmen."

Still I brought down my 50D for a test run of the venerable 70-200 f4L vs this lens, and I'd have to say the IS on the 70-300 works wonders over the 70-200. I could take very sharp images handheld at 300mm, 1/25s indoors. Incredible, no?

Well, I'll be heading to Sentosa next week so there'll be plenty of opportunities to test drive this baby.

With this lens, and my current 17-55mm F2.8, I don't think I'll need any more lenses for travel purposes. Hmm, maybe an UWA? Nah, 3 lenses would be too heavy.
